ASQ is a global community of people dedicated to quality who share the ideas and tools that make our world work better. With millions of individual and organizational members of the community in 150 countries, ASQ has the reputation and reach to bring together the diverse quality champions who are transforming the world’s corporations, organizations and communities to meet tomorrow’s critical challenges. ASQ is headquartered in Milwaukee, Wis., with a brand new national service center in the Middle East and Africa - MEA.

The motivation behind the move is to enhance the competitiveness in the Middle East Africa, particularly on regional levels. ASQ MEA has developed and implemented necessary strategies to upgrade the capabilities of the members and strengthen the region’s standing in terms of performance improvement. History



ASQ has been at the forefront of the quality movement for more than 65 years. Headquartered in Milwaukee, ASQ traces its beginnings to the end of World War II, as quality experts and manufacturers sought ways to sustain the many quality-improvement techniques used during wartime. ASQ has played a crucial role in upholding these standards from the past while, at the same time, championing continued innovation in the field of quality.

By the end of the 1970s, the principles of quality had greatly influenced manufacturing and other industrial processes, by focusing attention on how products and services could define and meet technical specifications. Businesses typically established a quality-control department to ensure specifications was met.

In the 1980s, ASQ members began to see how quality could be applied beyond the world of manufacturing. Quality, they realized, could make a difference in any organization and touch every person in it. Quality began to blossom into a much broader discipline aimed at leading, inspiring, and managing a broad range of businesses and activities, always with a focus on excellence.

Today, ASQ has become a global organization, with members in more than 140 countries. ASQ now has service centers in Mexico, China, India and MEA, and has established strategic alliances with numerous organizations to promote ASQ products and training.   • ASQ champions the cause of quality through a variety of fields and standards. ASQ provides support to a number of volunteer groups that develop and approve international and American National Standards. This includes the most widely known standards, such as ISO 9001, ISO 26000, and ISO 14001, as well as other standards and technical reports that apply quality management principles, tools and technology.
  • Headquartered in Milwaukee, Wis., ASQ supports membership services and business operations through ASQ Global, ASQ China, ASQ Mexico, ASQ India and ASQ MEA; with ASQ WorldPartners® around the globe.
  • The ASQ family of companies also includes accreditation leaders ANSI-ASQ National Accreditation Board, ANAB-ACLASS, and RABQSA operating around the globe. Forensic Quality Services (FQS) joined the family in March 2012.

Certification

ASQ offers 19 certifications, and has issued nearly 150,000 certifications to professionals worldwide. Certifications are an essential development tool to help quality professionals stand out in the workplace.

World Conference and Events

ASQ connects the quality community through events, conferences, and meetings throughout the year. The ASQ Annual World Conference on Quality and Improvement is our premier event. Other ASQ conferences include the Lean and Six Sigma Conference and National Quality Education Conference.

World Quality Month

Held each November, ASQ heads this month-long celebration designed to raise the global voice of quality. The event includes a roundtable with quality leaders, stories of quality in practice, and information about quality tools and techniques.

Knowledge Center

ASQ’s Knowledge Center provides one-stop online access to quality tools and resources.

Quality Press

Quality Press is the world’s largest publisher of quality related products, including books and magazines. ASQ publishes six journals and magazines, including Quality Progress— our flagship publication.

Research

ASQ participates in notable research that adds to our Quality Body of Knowledge (QBOK®). Our premier work is the Futures Study, conducted every three years beginning in 1995. ASQ also engages in high-profile research collaborations, including studies on social responsibility with IBM and ManpowerGroup. Our annual surveys on manufacturing outlook and salaries for quality professionals serve as economic barometers.
